THE LODGE AT SPRUCE PEAK

STOWE, VT

THE LODGE AT SPRUCE PEAK: The Lodge at Spruce Peak is New England's only luxury ski-in/ski-out hotel, with a full-service fitness center and a 21,000-square-foot Spa and Wellness Center that's won its share of awards. The heated outdoor pool, Adventure Center with an indoor climbing wall, and ice skating rink are all steps away in Spruce Peak Village. Suites and residences come with full kitchens; standard Lodge guestrooms and studios do not. Multiple restaurants handle dining, from Alpine Hall to the WhistlePig Pavilion.

Stowe Mountain Resort — spanning both Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, connected by gondola — is genuinely the property's backyard. In winter it's over 100 trails and part of the Vail Epic Pass system; in summer, the Lodge's own hiking guide sends guests straight up Mount Mansfield's ski trails, a 3.5-mile round trip with real views. For a dedicated gym in town, PHIT Performance is a short drive up Mountain Road — a locally owned strength and conditioning gym that's been training Stowe for over 20 years.

★ DESTINATION GYM: MOUNT MANSFIELD
Vermont's highest peak at 4,395 feet, directly connected to the Lodge via the Stowe Mountain Resort gondola network. In winter, legendary New England skiing across Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak; in summer, hiking trails ranging from an easy 3.5-mile loop through the ski terrain to the historic Long Trail's full ridge walk across the Chin and the Nose, with one of Vermont's only alpine tundra zones at the top. The mountain is the whole reason to stay here.

★ DESTINATION GYM: THE LONG TRAIL
America's oldest long-distance footpath, running 273 miles the length of Vermont along the Green Mountains. The section crossing Mount Mansfield's ridge is the signature stretch near Stowe — a 2.8-mile round trip from the Chin to the Nose across one of Vermont's only exposed alpine tundra zones, with the Stowe valley on one side and Lake Champlain on the other. Whether guests hike a few miles of ridge or come specifically to say they've walked a piece of the Long Trail, it's a genuine piece of American hiking history right off the property.
